With the icon themes that Google introduced with Android 13, the app icons on your home screen adapt to the background color. This is how you activate the function.
With Android 12, Google has made a major redesign of the operating system. In the new “Material You” design, icons of system apps, buttons, etc. adapt their color to the background image of your start screen. With Android 13 you can now also activate so-called “Themed Icons” (icon design) for third-party apps.
For now, the icon themes are only available on Pixel devices with the Pixel Launcher. Also, not all apps support color-coordinated icons yet. Here, the app developers first have to take action themselves. With WhatsApp and Reddit, however, some popular apps are already doing this.
To enable icon themes, you need to go to the “Background and Style” menu in Settings. We will show you step by step how to access the menu and activate the option.
