With Android 13, Google would like to set up an alert system allowing users to better manage their battery consumption.
Android users know how draining some background apps can be. It is common knowledge that some manufacturer interfaces compare less well than others and draw more from your smartphone’s battery.
Many complain about it and are eventually forced to explore the settings to find the cause of their misfortunes. And it is here that Google intends to intervene, as we learn 9to5Googlesince a new feature discovered in the DP2 of Android 13 should arrive with the next version of the OS.
Android 13 wants to heal your smartphone battery
Android 13 will warn users of excessive battery usage in the background. The notification will appear when an app consumes an excessive amount over a 24-hour period. However, the alert will only show up when the targeted app has finished working and will remain in the notification pane until the user disables it. This notification will then only reappear after 24 hours. This is a bit of a shame since we would appreciate reacting as quickly as possible to best save the battery of our smartphone, even if it means being able to choose the frequency of these alerts. But it will still allow you to understand your uses and the points that you can improve for better autonomy.
Note that some applications will not be affected by these alerts. Among them are system applications (which are often better not to interrupt), VPN apps or companion apps that allow you to use a paired device.
Also note that another type of notification is also planned and will be displayed if an application consumes battery for at least 20 hours in a row.
Google has been trying to change the energy consumption of rotating devices for a while now with its operating system. Especially since because of the large number of devices available on the Android fleet, there are different optimizations to be made depending on the interface.
