The next Android 15 version should allow dark mode to be applied everywhere. And this is much better than the current maneuver allows.
Even though dark mode is particularly popular among smartphone owners these days, there are still some apps that don’t offer it natively. So of course, for those who were on Android, there was always the possibility of accessing the developer options, and selecting a function that forced the implementation of dark mode. Except that the result was not always extremely pleasing to the eye. Reason why Android 15 will bring something new
Android 15 goes dark mode for everyone
In 2024, there are unfortunately still a few apps that don’t offer dark mode. So, instead of waiting for some to get in tune, the next Android 15 version will simply enable this dark mode on all applications.
This is what Mishaal Rahman discovered by probing the APK, as reported to us Android Authority. By going to the Accessibility page, he was able to come across a page with one of the entries titled “Make all apps dark”. The text that accompanies this entry is very clear, since the activated function applies ” to all applications, without going through their own dark theme “.
A feature coming in May?
And according to the same source, success is clearly there. This new function does not alter the text or the images, thanks to improvements in the algorithms. Finally, the fact that this option is available directly through the Accessibility menu and not in the developers mode, indicates that it is made for all users, and therefore that Android has confidence in its effectiveness.
This new mode is not yet available in the beta version of Android 15. It could be that Google drags out the fun, and adds it in the next beta, which will be deployed at the time of the big annual Google I/ conference. O.
