Android Auto is now compatible with Uber Driver, no more smartphone needed

Android Auto is available in millions of vehicles, but Google’s interface has until now not been compatible with all Uber applications, including the one dedicated to drivers. The company has finally corrected this problem.

Android Auto allows users to safely access essential apps while driving, displayed on the car’s screen. This is particularly useful for drivers, who then do not have to use their smartphones to navigate Google Maps or Waze. Users of electric vehicles have even recently seen the arrival of a very useful new application on the interface.

The problem is that despite these efforts to make the driving experience even safer, some industry professionals couldn’t use Google’s system. Uber has previously never allowed its drivers to use Android Auto, but the company has just corrected that.

Uber Driver finally comes to Android Auto

When Uber announced that it wanted to prevent you from giving bad ratings to obtain refunds, the American company also announced the arrival of the Uber Driver application on Android Auto, after its previous integration with CarPlay. This is great news for Uber drivers.

Indeed, Uber drivers can now use the application’s features directly from their vehicle’s screen, which prevents them from interacting with their smartphone while driving. This therefore not only improves their own safety, since they can fully concentrate on the road, but also that of their passengers.

With Uber Driver on Android Auto, drivers can access a special map that makes it easier to identify busy locations and potential ride opportunities. Additionally, drivers can accept transportation requests and initiate navigation to the customer’s desired destination directly from the app. These features, which previously required interaction with the smartphone, are now seamlessly integrated into the car’s infotainment systeme.

Uber drivers can use the service on their vehicle screen by updating to the latest version of the Uber Driver app available on the Play Store. Once the app is installed, the Uber Driver icon will appear on the Android Auto screen.
