The bad people USB-C cables
are often the cause of problemsAndroid-Auto
Google knows it.
To make it easier for users, the Mountain View company is deploying a tool that will detect if a USB cable is damaged or incompatible.
A feature to check USB cables
Android Auto will welcome a very useful feature. Users who own a car whose entertainment system is compatible with Android Auto know how capricious it can sometimes be. Connection problems often explained by a hardware problem: the USB-C cable.
It is indeed necessary that the cable in question meets some specific criteria to avoid disappointments. For example, it must allow data sharing, which some well-made cables do not, and it must be able to withstand sudden and repetitive withdrawals so as not to quickly become obsolete.

To overcome these problems, Google has just rolled out a new feature that checks if a USB-C cable works correctly with Android Auto. The “USB Startup Diagnostics” tool will ask users to plug in their cable and it will check if it connects properly, its quality, if it can transfer data or if the phone’s USB port is damaged. The function will be available with version 7.5.121104 of Android Auto, the deployment of which has begun.
