Google explains its choice: “We enhance the Android logo by putting the capital “A”, thus adding more weight to its appearance when placed next to the Google logo. Although we’ve added more Android-specific curves and personality, the new Android styling more closely reflects the Google logo and strikes a balance between the two.”

These changes come a little before the release of Android 14, the arrival of which could be pushed back to early October. The new brand identity will be rolled out gradually on devices and elsewhere starting this year.
