“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” will be even bigger than the first part of 2018, promises actress Angela Bassett.

“Black Panther 2” will be even better than the first part of 2018. At least that’s what actress Angela Bassett (63) promises loudly “The Hollywood Reporters” in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres (64). The interview will be broadcast this Monday. Bassett also portrays Ramonda, the Queen Mother of Wakanda, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

“It’s going to be great,” Bassett says of Black Panther 2. “It will surpass the first part, if I may say so,” she adds, alluding to the secrecy of the content.

Bassett wants to maintain the level set by the late Chadwick Boseman

The shadow hanging over the Black Panther sequel is the death of Chadwick Boseman. The actor who played the titular hero died of cancer on August 28, 2020. He was 43 years old.

Of course, Ellen DeGeneres also approached Angela Bassett about Boseman. “He was such a role model, such a leader, such an amazing talent – we all know that,” replies the actress. “He had a big heart and a high intellect. We hope we can maintain the level he has reached.”

Boseman’s role as T’Challa will not be recast in Black Panther 2. The sequel is slated to hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
