Opening “Parsifal” in Bayreuth with political celebrities

Bayreuth will be flooded with political celebrities for its festival next Tuesday. Angela Merkel will be there again.
This year’s Bayreuth Festival will again be held in front of a large number of political celebrities. As the city of Bayreuth announced on ThursdayEU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen (64) and ex-Chancellor Angela Merkel (69) are expected.
Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (56) and Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (68), Green Party leader Ricarda Lang (29) and the chairman of the CSU state group in the Bundestag, Alexander Dobrindt (53), will also be guests. Numerous other politicians will come from Bavarian state politics, including the Bavarian State Minister for Economics, State Development and Energy, Hubert Aiwanger (52), and the former Bavarian Prime Ministers Edmund Stoiber (81) and Günther Beckstein (79).
Furtwangler, Broich and a princess are also expected
Celebrities outside of politics will also walk the red carpet: the actresses Maria Furtwängler (56) and Margarita Broich (63) were announced. The cabaret artist Michl Müller (51), Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis (63) and the director of Bavarian Radio, Dr. Katja Wildermuth will be present.
Merkel is considered a permanent guest at the Richard Wagner Festival. The current Chancellor does not follow this tradition: he did not come last year, this year Olaf Scholz (65) is already on vacation.
The Richard Wagner Festival, also known as the Bayreuth Festival, takes place from Monday, July 24th to Monday, August 28th. instead of. The Wagner performances will start on Tuesday with a new production of “Parsifal” directed by the US stage director, playwright and artist Jay Scheib (53). The musical direction will be taken over by the Spanish conductor Pablo Heras-Casado (45).
