Angela Merkel: The Chancellor is publicly wearing a mask

So now: After criticism of why Angela Merkel has never been seen with a mask, the Chancellor now presented herself with mouth-nose protection.

The Chancellor is now also wearing mouth-nose protection in public. After burgeoning criticism of Angela Merkel (65), the CDU politician is now also taking a mask at public appointments. First, Reiner Haseloff (66), CDU Prime Minister of Saxony-Anhalt, published a picture from Thursday evening (July 2nd) on his Twitter account, on which both he and the Chancellor can be seen wearing a fabric mask. Merkel's choice fell on a black copy with the logo of the German EU Council Presidency.

On Friday morning (July 3) Angela Merkel then appeared with an identical mask on one of her rare visits to the German Federal Council. On Monday she explained why she had never been seen with a mask before: "If I adhere to the distance rules, I don't need to put the mask on. And if I don't adhere to it and I go shopping, for example, then we don't meet, obviously." Otherwise you could have seen her with a mask, but it doesn't tell you when to go shopping.
