Angelo Badalamenti, David Lynch’s composer of “Blue Velvet” and “Twin Peaks”, is dead. The musician was 85 years old.

Angelo Badalamenti (1937-2022) is dead. This is reported, among other things, by “The Hollywood Reporter”. The celebrated composer was 85 years old. He became known through his collaboration with director David Lynch (76). For him Badalamenti created the music for “Blue Velvet”, “Twin Peaks”, “Wild at Heart” and “Mulholland Drive”. In “Mulholland Drive” the composer also appeared as mafia boss Luigi Castigliane.

Badalamenti died of natural causes surrounded by his family on Sunday, according to the report. He last lived in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. During his long career, the musician has also worked with stars such as Shirley Bassey, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Marianne Faithfull, Liza Minnelli, the Pet Shop Boys and LL Cool J.

He won a Grammy

In 1990, Badalamenti received a Grammy Award for his music for “Twin Peaks” and three Emmy nominations for his work on the series. The TV show’s soundtrack album went gold in 25 countries. Badalamenti also composed the music for the lighting of the Olympic torch at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
