Anger in Tennengau – “The chaos is more violent than ever before”

The Gollingers and Kuchlers have finally had enough! The residents go to the barricades. The two local leaders have written a letter of complaint to the state government – and are not sparing with strong words.

“Soon everyone will go crazy.” Like many other Gollingers, Christine Holzmann is angry. Your hairdressing business is located in the middle of the market – and is therefore particularly hard hit by the current traffic chaos. “But now the cars are jammed even on the smallest routes, the whole place is congested,” groans the entrepreneur. As reported, the months-long renovation of several tunnels on the Tauern Autobahn (A10) between Golling andwerfen leads to massive traffic disruptions almost every day. And not just on the A10. Drivers also need a lot of patience on the alternative routes through the towns. Two accidents on the motorway made the situation even worse on Wednesday. Mayors threaten the State Transport Council “It has never been so violent,” says pharmacist Franziska Wagner. There is currently still massive tourist traffic even at night. “It’s crazy for business. The parking spaces in town are empty, the streets are full.” Doctor Katharina Doppler says: “It is dangerous to your health. What if you have to go out of town for an examination? You won’t take the train if you’re sick. It’s crazy!” But what can you do about the traffic jam madness? Golling’s mayor Peter Harlander (ÖVP) wrote a letter of protest with his Kuchler counterpart Thomas Freylinger – addressed to State Transport Councilor Stefan Schnöll. The local leaders are calling for complete traffic closures through the places affected by the construction chaos. The current exit closures from the motorway are “not sensible.” They end their letter with threatening words: If the state does not take effective steps, they will “take action independently.” From the office of State Transport Councilor Stefan Schnöll it was said on Wednesday evening: “ We understand the concerns of the extremely affected neighboring communities and are in ongoing contact with the mayors.” They have already tried several times to take measures to relieve the burden and will continue to do so, although it is generally difficult to find a solution given the enormous volume of traffic without massive traffic jams and through traffic.
