Anggun talks about his surprising exchange with Barack Obama

This new experience as a juror fills the Indonesian singer with joy. Passionate about music since childhood, Anggun quickly made a name for himself in his native country. Her talent then led her to become known all over the world, and particularly in France thanks to the support offered by Florent Pagny. Now elevated to rank internationally renowned artist, the singer was able to perform in front of two popes and two American presidents, including Barack Obama. Interviewed by Sophie Davant on the show Pleased to meet you on M Radio, Anggun confided in her surprising meeting with the husband of Michelle Obama.

Anggun crossed paths with Barack Obama during of an international convention in 2017. If she admits to having been “very impressed by him and his speech”, she compares this meeting to a real “gift of life”. “When you are given such gifts, you accept”, she says, with some emotion. She takes advantage of this interview to tell a little anecdote about their exchange : “He complimented my shoes!”
“That was awesome,” she adds, prompting a burst of laughter from the presenter. If Anggun hasn’t talked for hours with Barack Obama, she will remember this meeting all his life. As a bonus, it’s not every day that a politician as influential as him compliments you on your style!
