Angoulême 2022: the emotion of Line Renaud and Dany Boon at the opening of the Francophone Film Festival

Dany Boon and Line Renaud opened the 15th edition of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival with Une belle course. Kick-off of a festival with an XXL program, with many previews of French films for the start of the school year…

Dany Boon and Line Renaud kicked off the 15th edition of the Francophone Film Festival with great emotion. The duo, which is already the 4th collaboration, unveiled Une belle course in preview in 12 rooms of the Festival in the city of Angoulême, in front of more than 2000 spectators.

The few words addressed to the public by Line Renaud at the end of the screening will certainly remain in the very strong memories of the Festival. “I am nearing the time. But I had a good life, an extraordinary life. And that cannot be forgotten. (…) I have spent my life loving you.“The film crew, led by the actress, received a hearty ovation.

A beautiful race follows Madeleine, 92 years old. She calls a taxi to reach the retirement home where she must now live. She asks Charles, a slightly disillusioned driver, to go through the places that mattered in her life, to see them one last time. Gradually, at the bend of the streets of Paris, an extraordinary past emerges that upsets Charles. There are taxi trips that can change a life…

Directed by Christian Carion, Une belle course will be released on September 21.

Earlier in the day, the jury of this 15 edition of the Francophone Film Festival arrived, ready to discover the selection of films in competition.

This is chaired by André Dussollier, surrounded by Veerle Baetens, Alex Beaupain, Leyla Bouzid, Patrick Cohen, Joséphine Japy, Isabelle Kabano, Alexis Moncorgé and Sébastien Pilote. The jury of French-speaking students is chaired by Gwendoline Hamon.

Until August 28, 2022, the Festival will roll out its blue carpet to honor French-speaking cinema and kick off the start of the new cinema season. It is an XXL program which is announced until the end of the week, with no less than 50 films, not to mention the various tributes (to Rwandan cinema in particular) and distributor focus (Pathé, Orange Studio).

The giant session of this edition will go to Malik Bentalha who will present his first co-production, the adventure film Jack Mimoun and the secrets of Val Verde.

Discover below the 10 films of the competition, and several other selections, including some highlighting first feature films. The closing film will be L’Innocent by Louis Garrel.
