Angoulême Festival 2022: Dany Boon and Line Renaud opening and more than 50 French-speaking films to discover


Dany Boon and Line Renaud opening with Une belle course, Louis Garrel closing with L’Innocent… More than 50 films, not counting the various tributes… An XXL program for the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival which takes place takes place at the end of August.

The Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, which will be celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, will roll out its blue carpet, from August 23 to 28, 2022, to honor French-speaking cinema and kick off the return to cinema . It’s an XXL program that promises to be, with no less than 50 films, not to mention the various tributes (tribute to Rwandan cinema) and distributor focus (Pathé, Orange Studio).

The jury will be chaired by André Dussollier, surrounded by Veerle Baetens, Alex Beaupain, Leyla Bouzid, Patrick Cohen, Joséphine Japy, Isabelle Kabano, Alexis Moncorgé and Sébastien Pilote. The jury of French-speaking students will be chaired by Gwendoline Hamon.

Note among some of the highlights, a tribute to actor William Hurt, with the screening of J’enrage de son absence by Sandrine Bonnaire. The giant session of this edition will go to Malik Bentalha who will present his first co-production, the adventure film Jack Mimoun and the secrets of Val Verde by Malik Bentalha.

The opening film will be Une belle course by Christian Carion and the closing film, L’innocent by Louis Garrel. Discover the 10 films in competition below, and several other selections, including several highlighting first feature films. Note that a few films will still complete this first selection (short films in competition among others). The Festival will also announce the master classes soon.

Among the stars who should make the trip are Dany Boon, Line Renaud, Isabelle Carré, Laure Calamy, Rebecca Marder, Sara Giraudeau…
