It’s been more than two years now since Animal Crossing New Horizons was released on the Nintendo Switch, much to the delight of fans. And although the title will never receive a big update again, forgetting these superb features from previous games, many players may have missed out on the new features added to the game last year. Maybe you are only discovering ACNH today and that is why we are offering you 6 things not to miss in October 2022.
The new fish and insects
October is synonymous with the appearance of new fish and insects, as well as sea creatures. In the northern hemisphere, autumn is well established and the acorns/pine cones are still available, while in the southern hemisphere spring has arrived and the cherry trees are in bloom!
Halloween: the big event of October
The Halloween party starts on October 31 at 6 p.m.. The music will then be different and all your inhabitants will be disguised. Don’t forget to don a spooky outfit and buy candy (one per day) throughout October. By showing your beautiful Halloween outfit to the locals, they can give you a free candy, or even a lollipop.
On your island, you will come across Jack’O Lantern. The latter will ask you for sweets in exchange for furniture and other Halloween plans. Below you will find a guide to the event and the list of available Halloween furniture.
Important : November 5, 2021 Update 2.0 brought a brand new special Halloween recipe that you can cook: Halloween shortbread ! If you haven’t had Time Travel in all this time, then this is the first time you can get this item.
Pumpkins and sweets: prepare well for Halloween
During the whole month of October, you can buy pumpkin seeds from Root and candies in the Nook Shop. Remember to buy 1 candy per day because they will be useful to you on Halloween day. Regarding the pumpkins, the three different colors will allow you to make unique pieces of furniture: remember to keep a few copies for the Fête du Sharing avec Dindou which will take place in November!
Also note that throughout the month, the Nook Shop sells special Halloween items as does the Soeurs Doigts de Fée store which sells costumes.
The last fishing tournament of the year
On Saturday, October 9, 2022, the Northern and Southern Hemisphere Fishing Tournament will take place. The opportunity to win a ton of bells by selling your fish or exclusive Pollux items to decorate your island.
Seasonal items not to miss
Here are all the items you can collect via the Nookstop terminal of the Residents’ Office. Just go to the Nook Shopping and then to the “Temporary Items” tab using the L and R buttons on your joycons. Once the object has been purchased, you will receive it the next day by post.
- Bouquet of dried flowers : to celebrate the feast of the dead – 1600 bells – from October 25 to November 3
Unfortunately, this is the only seasonal item for October, but don’t forget that the postcards that are sold at the airport can also be considered seasonal since they change every month.
