Animal injured – stranger shot an arrow at a swan in the Danube

A hitherto unknown perpetrator is likely to have fired an arrow at a swan in the Danube on Christmas Eve at around 2:30 p.m. The injured animal was found floating in Klosterneuburg in Lower Austria on the banks of the Danube.

Cruel scenes are likely to have played out on Christmas Eve on the banks of the Danube in Klosterneuburg: officers of the water police were informed about an injured swan that was floating in the Danube. With the support of the Floridsdorf police, the voluntary fire brigade and animal aid from Klosterneuburg, the emergency services managed to lead the injured animal to the bank. There the swan was held on the bank by two helpful passers-by. There was an arrow in the wounded animal. The police assume that an unknown perpetrator shot the animal. The swan was immediately handed over to the wildlife service for care.
