How does Anna Netrebko feel about the Ukraine war despite being close to Putin? She made it clear via Instagram: “I want the war to stop.”

Now the Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko (50) has reported to the Ukraine war. She released a joint statement with her husband via Instagram, the Azerbaijani tenor Yusif Eyvazov (44). There she made it clear that she was against this war: “I want the war to stop.” She is Russian and loves her country, but also has many friends in Ukraine: “The pain and suffering break my heart.”

She wants people to be able to live in peace, she prays for that. In the past, Netrebko has often been criticized for her closeness to Russian President Vladimir Putin (69). At times she publicly supported him. Regarding the public’s expectations in recent days, which have been urging Netrebko to confess, she now says: “I would argue, however, that it is not right to force artists or any public figure to make their political views public and to insult their fatherland.”

Split echo after statement

Everyone should decide that freely, she personally is not a political person and not a specialist: “I am an artist and my goal is to unite across political differences.” In addition to encouragement, criticism also arose in the comments. Some users ask why she has made statements pro-Putin in the past if she is not a political figure?
