The actress speaks out after announcing her illness

On April 3, 2024, Anna Paquin appeared at the screening of the film “A Bit of Light”, in which she played the leading role. But the appearance caused irritation: the actress had to rely on a walking stick. As Paquin explained, she has been battling an illness that limits her mobility for two years. Now she speaks out again.
Anna Paquin is “extremely touched” by the condolences
Shortly after the red carpet appearance, the actress revealed how “grateful” she is amid her ongoing health problems. “I’m extremely touched and moved by people showing that they care and are interested and kind,” she tells “Entertainment Tonight.” She further emphasizes that she is “just very grateful for the support” and adds: “At some point I will probably elaborate on my own platform in my own words.”
Mobility and language are restricted
As Anna Paquin previously told People, her illness, which she did not specify, was diagnosed two years ago. The time afterwards was “challenging” for her. The 41-year-old emphasizes: “It wasn’t easy.” The “True Blood” star didn’t reveal much about his current health. She only revealed that her mobility and her use of language were impaired.
However, as People reported, an anonymous source has confirmed that the actress will “hopefully” make a full recovery from her health problems. Paquin herself tells the magazine that she is on the mend.
Despite all the adversities, she was able to continue working as an actress. In the film “A Bit of Light”, directed by her husband Stephen Moyer, 54, the Canadian-born woman plays an alcoholic mother who loses custody of her children. In April 2023, Paquin was unable to attend the Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival and apologized for her absence on Instagram at the time. She didn’t give a reason at the time – today it’s clear why she probably couldn’t travel to Spain.
Actress keeps her private life out of the public eye
Her greatest support is her husband Stephen. The couple met while filming “True Blood.” The stars’ engagement became known in 2009. A year later they said yes. Their happiness was crowned by the birth of their twins Charlie and Poppy in 2012, which the acting couple strictly kept out of the public eye.
“I’ve always been very private. […] “I don’t want people to know too much about my real, inner private life,” Paquin once said in an interview with “Today.” The 41-year-old remains true to this line.
Anna Paquin has been in front of the camera since she was a child. At age 11, she won an Oscar for her performance in the film “The Piano.”
