Anna Wilken and her partner Sargis Adamyan have been trying to start a family through artificial insemination for more than three years. The great wish for a child has so far remained unfulfilled. A topic that is often taboo in our society.

For Anna Wilken, 25, raising awareness and removing taboos from the unfulfilled desire to have children is an affair of the heart. Too often she has felt firsthand how tactless people can be, how often women are approached about their desire to have children – as a matter of course, as if it were part of normal small talk. The other person is far too seldom aware of what can be triggered by it. “I find it naive that everyone assumes that you will have a child when you want,” said the author in an interview with Brigitte.

“The fertility clinics are not overcrowded for nothing,” says the former GNTM candidate. Often it is a lack of knowledge or simply a lack of empathy. “With many couples the pregnancy goes smoothly, as well as in my whole circle of friends. I am idolatrously happy for them. But because of such couples, many think that it would work so quickly for everyone,” explains Wilken. In order to avoid unpleasant or even hurtful situations, it takes more than avoiding the topic entirely.

For the model there is, among other things, a key to removing taboos; and that’s called communication. She speaks openly with friends and family. “If I didn’t want to hold my friend’s newborn baby because it hurts, I would put it very clearly,” she says. However, she would never give concrete advice on how to deal with the affected women – every woman, every couple, is too individual for that. It is important that everyone finds their way with the situation and is honest with their surroundings.

Anna Wilken: “It always depends on the tone”

In her book “Well, when is it so far?” Anna Wilken wrote down her personal dream trip. In addition, together with Saskia Hirschberg, she explains there about possible treatments, which financing is possible, and writes on the sensitive issue of miscarriage. “Primarily, I want to create sensitivity for the topic – that was also the intention of the book. The right tone is often crucial,” says the influencer.

Anna Wilken and her fiancé have set a personal limit for how long they will pursue the dream of their own pregnancy. They will not reveal them. “I decide everything the way it feels good.”
