Annapurna makes its first acquisition with 24 Bit Games – Gamosaurus

This is a great first for the publishing company. Pillar of the independent scene, Annapurna Interactive has made the first acquisition in its history with the South African studio 24 Bit Games. A buyout which should allow both parties to still have a way to go together. For a supporting studio, 24 bit games seems to mean a lot to Annapurna. And we can understand it given the titles they worked on.

In its history, the South African studio has demonstrated a certain mastery by providing support for flagship projects for Annapurna Interactive. For example, they were present on
Twelve Minutes,
Neon White or even more recently cocoon. This should not change with this acquisition, but the studio based in Johannesburg should receive enough to ensure good development. A good way to help the studio, while making the video game industry in South Africa more important.

“Over the years of working with the wonderful people of Annapurna, we have come to know them as wise and caring, inspiring and inspired in equal measure. Their values align closely with ours and while this partnership may seem too perfect to you, from our perspective it is simply an organic and inevitable growth of our current relationship into its new beautiful lepidopteran form. »

24 Bit Games, on its official announcement

Overall, this acquisition seems to be a good thing. The support studio will benefit from better resources and more easily accessible external help. However, 24 Bit Games may no longer work with publishers other than Annapurna. We can therefore expect that Devolver Digital will be forced to call on other minds to help them finalize a project.
