Anne Douglas, wife of Kirk Douglas and stepmother of Michael Douglas, has died. She was 102 years old.

Anne Douglas (1919-2021) “died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at her home in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles” at the age of 102. According to the US media, the Douglas family announced this in a statement.

Born in Hanover, she was “never angry stepmother”

Born in Hanover, she was an actress, producer, the long-time wife (1954-2020) of Hollywood star Kirk Douglas (1916-2020) and the stepmother of Oscar winner Michael Douglas (76). Anne Douglas died just over a year after her husband’s death in February 2020. The couple were married for 66 years and had two other sons, Peter (65) and Eric Douglas (1958-2004). Kirk Douglas brought two sons into the marriage, film star Michael and producer Joel (74).

“Anne was more than a stepmother and never ‘bad’,” said Michael Douglas in the statement. “She brought out the best in all of us, especially in our father. Dad would never have had the career he had without Anne’s support and partnership.” He himself, his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones (51) and the children would have adored them; “it will always be in our hearts”.
