On the occasion of the broadcast of the program 40 years of songs by Celine Dion: the stars sing for SidactionSaturday March 26, 2022, on France 2, Bilal Hassani was invited on the set of It’s up to you. At his side, his mother, Amina Frühauf, was present to promote his book. Asked by Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine and her columnists, the young woman explained why she had decided to tell her story. She stated thus:By dint of seeing mums and dads of all social classes come and say to me: ‘What could you advise us? What can we do to help our children to accept themselves and to help them bear the rejection of society?’ Three years later, this book has become obvious. At first, I didn’t feel legitimate to advise parents and then I told myself that I was just going to tell my story and maybe in my journey, parents will be inspired and create their method of education.“
In his book, Bilal Hassani’s mother explains that in order for his child to learn to be free, his parent must first be free too. On the set, the latter explained: “You have to set an example, because words are good, of course, you have to speak, but you have to set an example. If a parent is already locked in a straitjacket himself or if he remains simply anxious about what society thinks of him, he will not be able to explain to the child that he must free himself from his chains. and that he just has to breathe and go live his life and be happy!“
