The doctors were able to find an organ recipient for Anne Heche. That’s why the machines weren’t shut down immediately – despite brain death.

On Friday, US actress Anne Heche (1969-2022) was declared brain dead after her fatal fire accident. From that day on, she was considered deceased in the legal sense. Nevertheless, Heche remained connected to life-sustaining measures and thus her cycle continued in order to be able to fulfill her wish for organ donation. Only later were the machines shut down. Now a spokesman told “People” magazinethat the organs of the 53-year-old could actually be donated.

A suitable organ recipient was able to be found, it is said. It is not known which organs were donated by Heche and who the recipient is. The 53-year-old Heche died on Friday about a week after a serious car accident involving her Mini Cooper. She crashed into a building at high speed, which then caught fire, as did her vehicle.

A few days later it was announced that Heche had suffered massive brain damage and was in a coma in a clinic. On Friday, her spokesman confirmed numerous media reports that Heche was already brain dead and was only being kept alive by machines. According to initial reports, the Emmy winner was said to have been under the influence of drugs during the accident. The police have already made it clear that all investigations had been stopped with Heche’s death.
