2021 was an exciting year for royal families. Also in 2022, the Royals’ diaries are packed full again.

From Prince Harry (37) and Duchess Meghans (40) Oprah interview to Prince Philips (1921-2021) death to some royal births, 2021 was a turbulent year for the royals. In 2022 there are now numerous special birthdays, possible baptisms and the great platinum anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II (95). We can look forward to these royal events in the new year.

These royals celebrate big birthdays

Right at the beginning of the year, Duchess Kate has something to celebrate: Prince William’s wife was born on January 9, 1982 and will be 40 this year. More than five months later, on June 21, her husband Prince William follows – he will also be 40. Will the two of them throw a party together at Kensington Palace?

And another duchess has a big birthday to celebrate in 2022: Camilla, the wife of heir to the throne Prince Charles (73), will be 75 on July 17th.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark celebrates her 50th birthday on February 5th. In her honor, the Danish palace is organizing a gala dinner and an exhibition about the native Australian. Queen Letizia of Spain will also be half a century old. By the way, she shares her special day on September 15 with two other royals: Prince Harry is 38, Prince Daniel of Sweden 49.

For Princess Madeleine of Sweden on June 10th it is “Grattis på födelsedagen!”: The daughter of King Carl XVI. Gustaf (75) and Queen Silvia (78) will be 40 years old. Her niece Princess Estelle also has a milestone birthday to celebrate: Princess Victoria’s daughter (44) will be ten on February 23.

A new generation of heir to the throne is growing up: In the Netherlands, Princess Amalia celebrated her majority in 2021, in 2022 it will be Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s turn in Norway: The daughter of Crown Prince Haakon (48) and Mette-Marit (48) will be 18 on January 21 Year old.

Wedding anniversaries and the Queen’s jubilee

On February 2, 2002, Máxima Zorreguieta (50) and the then Dutch heir to the throne Willem-Alexander (54) tied the knot in a moving ceremony. In 2022, today’s royal couple in the Netherlands will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary!

On November 20, 2021, the Queen had to spend her wedding anniversary for the first time without Prince Philip, who died in April 2021. In 2022 they would have had an anniversary to celebrate: 75 years of marriage, the so-called diamond wedding. But the Queen has another big anniversary to celebrate: her platinum anniversary. The monarch has been on the British throne since February 6, 1952. After health problems and because of the corona pandemic, the queen has currently withdrawn and, according to media reports, will probably not go public again until February. The jubilee of the throne is celebrated on the first weekend in June, in her honor there will be several parades, celebrations and also a horse race.

Are these royal babies baptized?

While 2021 was a very baby-rich year for the British Royals with four births, it remains to be seen whether there will be more offspring. However, the baptisms of Princess Beatrice (33) daughter Sienna and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s daughter Lili are still pending.

Is there a trial against Prince Andrew?

The legal battle over the abuse allegations against Prince Andrew (61) continues. In November 2021, a Manhattan judge ruled that next fall could be a possible date for a trial. It has not yet been decided whether it will come to trial. The background is the allegations of the American Virginia Giuffre (38), who accuses the Queen’s son of having sexually abused her 20 years ago as a 17-year-old. She has filed a civil lawsuit against the Royal.

What’s up for Harry and Meghan?

Prince Harry plans to publish his memoirs in 2022. He would be the first British royal to write a book since King Edward VIII in 1951. Harry’s work is expected to be as explosive as the Oprah interview from March 2021.
