A new WhatsApp bug is driving messenger fans worldwide crazy. The error causes the message “You have been added” to constantly appear in group chats, even if you have been a member of a group for years or are its admin. Normally it only appears when you join a group.

According to our research, the error has been occurring more frequently since the weekend of October 6th to 8th. From this date onwards you will find the first corresponding ones Problem descriptions on X as well as in the forum of Kommunikation-Talk.de.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is apparently primarily affected by this

The message is apparently triggered as soon as you look at the description of a group and then return to the chat. It is better not to do this at the moment if you are not yet affected by the problem.

The error apparently only occurs on the iPhone and probably not on all models. The iPhone 14 Pro Max was mentioned several times online in connection with this. We were unable to recreate the problem on an iPhone 13 Pro.

The error is probably contained in the update to version “23.20.0”, which was released in the App Store on October 4th. Since then, two more updates have been released, but they apparently haven’t fixed it. If your WhatsApp is currently running smoothly, you should not update it for the time being.

The error is annoying for those affected because the message constantly appears in the group chat and disrupts the actual chat process. You don’t currently have many options to fix it. Neither reinstalling the app, leaving it and adding it back to the group, nor restarting the cell phone should help.

However, a temporary switch to WhatsApp Business may do this. The app is actually intended for companies, but can also be used by private individuals. If you have another iPhone in your drawer, you can also change the device and hope that the error does not occur on the other device. Otherwise, all you can do is wait and hope for a patch from Apple or WhatsApp.
