Another attack on the US army
Iran’s foreign minister travels to the USA’s arch-enemy

Iran denies direct involvement in Hamas’ major attack on Israel, but supports the interests of the Palestinians. Now also in New York: the Iranian chief diplomat is campaigning for this at the UN. However, the Iranian-backed attacks on US armed forces continue.

Iran’s foreign minister made a surprise trip to the USA in view of the Gaza war. Visits to the United States by top Iranian politicians, considered archenemies of the Islamic Republic, are rare. Chief diplomat Hussein Amirabdollahian arrived in New York late on Wednesday evening (local time), his Foreign Ministry announced. Accordingly, the minister wants to support the interests of the Palestinians at a UN meeting.

They also enjoy the backing of the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, which is supported by Iran and hostile to Israel. After the terrorist attack by the Islamist Hamas with hundreds of Israeli deaths, Iran denied direct involvement in the attacks. However, the state leadership praised the attack.

Militias report new rocket attack on US forces

Iran-backed militias have been attacking US forces in the Middle East for a week, first with drones in Iraq and since Monday in Syria, even with rockets. Also on Wednesday, the so-called Islamic Resistance – a group of Iranian-backed Iraqi militias – said it attacked US forces stationed in Syria. As the day before, a rocket attack on Abu Hajar airport hit its target, the US think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW) quotes in its statement daily analysis the militias. However, no impact could be seen on footage released by the group. The USA did not initially confirm the attack.

According to the analysis, the so-called Islamic Resistance has claimed responsibility for 17 of 19 reported attacks on US forces in the Middle East since October 18. According to the ISW analysts, this is intended to dissuade the USA from supporting Israel.

UN Secretary General António Guterres once again strongly condemned the Hamas attack on Israel at the UN Security Council meeting on Tuesday. But he also said that the attacks by the radical Islamic Palestinian organization “did not occur in a vacuum.” The Palestinians have suffered from “suffocating occupation” for 56 years. Israel’s government reacted angrily to the statement. Israeli UN Ambassador Gilad Erdan called on the Secretary General to resign.
