A second senior officer of the Revolutionary Guards, the Iranian ideological army, injured in clashes with “terrorists” in the south-east of the country, died, announced on Saturday 1er October a press release from this organization.
It was not immediately clear if these clashes were linked to demonstrations that have taken place across the country since the death on September 16 of a young Iranian Kurd, Mahsa Amini, arrested by the morality police.

Violent repression
According to Hossein Khiabani, 20 people were also injured in the clashes. The province of Sistan-Baluchistan is a deprived region bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan and frequent scene of attacks or clashes between law enforcement and armed groups.

Earlier on Friday, state media reported that security forces fired at gunmen who attacked a police station in the provincial capital Zahedan. The repression of the demonstrations which have shaken Iran since September 16 has caused the death of several dozen demonstrators. Members of the security forces also died. More than a thousand people were also arrested across the country.
