Another price increase at RED by SFR … and here’s how to refuse it

If you subscribe to an SFR RED offeryou are likely to see your offer”to evolve“.

This translates into additional benefits, including 5G…. but also a rising price.

SFR is “evolving” its RED offers

For a few years now, the operator SFR has been offering its mobile plans without RED commitment, which allows you to take advantage of advantageous offers for new subscribers. An offer that has won over many subscribers in France, even if the operator sometimes has this unfortunate tendency to do “to evolve” the subscriber’s offer, with practices that are sometimes a little misleading.

Since the beginning of the year, SFR has been doing this “to evolve” the package of certain subscribers, allowing them to take advantage of “more gigas and 5G!“. The subscriber generally receives an email in which one can read: “SFR is continuing its investments and accelerating the deployment of its network to offer you the best customer experience, in all your new uses and needs.“If we stick to the subject of the email and the first paragraph, we can only praise this good news.

In return, and as indicated a little further down in the email in question, SFR reserves the right to revise the price of the subscription upwards, generally by a few additional euros (generally €3). It is up to the user whether or not to accept this offer…. and it is precisely on this aspect that we must be very suspicious.

“To enjoy it, you don’t have to do anything, we take care of everything. You will benefit from it automatically and without obligation in one month, on the date of your next invoice.“explains SFR. In other words, if the subscriber does not explicitly refute the offer made by SFR, the latter will see his subscription”to evolve” automatically the following month.

To refuse the offer, it is therefore imperative to go to a website indicated at the very end of the email in question, or to contact an SFR RED adviser, who will carry out this same operation. Note that once the entry into force of the modification, the subscriber has 4 months to refuse the new offer. You have been warned.
