Ansel Elgort: The actor defends himself against serious accusations

Again, allegations of sexual misconduct against a male celebrity shake the entertainment industry. This time the American actor Ansel Elgort (26, "Baby Driver") is said to have sexually abused a then 17-year-old fan in 2014. He himself denies the allegations and spoke up on the social media platform Instagram. "I can't claim to understand Gabby's feelings, but her description of what happened is simply not what happened," read a note the 26-year-old uploaded to his profile.

"I would never attack anyone"

On Friday (June 19), a Twitter user who only revealed her first name, according to US media reports, claimed in a tweet that sex with a woman was not consensual when she met Elgort. The woman's Twitter account no longer exists.

The actor, who made his breakthrough in 2014 with the drama "Fate is a lousy traitor", said in his statement that he had had a "short, legal and absolutely mutually agreed relationship" with the woman that same year. However, he does not want to know anything about the allegations against him. "I never have and would never attack anyone," he said in his post. He nevertheless admitted a certain wrongdoing.

After the separation, he simply stopped "answering her, which is an immature and cruel thing". "I know that this late apology does not release me from my unacceptable behavior when I disappeared," said the New York native, who was "disgusted and ashamed" by his own actions, commonly referred to as "ghosting". The star, who also played in "The Determination – Divergent", now wants to work on his ability to empathize, as he claimed on Instagram.
