Ant-Man 3: Evangeline Lilly earns the same amount as Paul Rudd

Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd play side by side again in "Ant-Man 3". Director Peyton Reed promises the same salary for both.

Paul Rudd (51, "Living with Yourself") and Evangeline Lilly (41, "Real Steel") are again in front of the camera for the third part of the "Ant-Man" superhero series. According to director Peyton Reed (56), the two stars are more than ever "partners" and therefore equal – financially too.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Reed said that the time they shared on screen, which the two already received for "Ant-Man and the Wasp" (2018), was not an anomaly. "They're partners and she's a very, very important part of that," the 56-year-old explained of actress Lilly.

Superhero films are "historically a male playing field"

The filmmaker is noticeably proud of the fact that the 41-year-old was mentioned in her role as "the Wasp" in the second part of the series – as the first Marvel superhero ever. He therefore also wants a certain "balance" for the sequel. "It's very important to me because historically it's a male field," he said. However, that is now changing "in a great way," says Reed.

Regarding the current production status of the blockbuster, the director only revealed that he and screenwriter Jeff Loveness ("Rick and Morty") had agreed on a plot. Nothing is official so far, but he and Loveness would "work in silence" – even during the corona pandemic.

"Girls United" filmmaker Reed has officially been appointed director of "Ant-Man 3" since November 2019. The comic blockbuster, for which Paul Rudd slips into the ant suit again as Scott Lang, is set to hit cinemas in 2022.
