Ant-Man 3: the bad reviews of the film? Kang doesn’t care!

Actor Jonathan Majors, who plays the fearsome Kang in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,’ has spoken out about the Marvel film’s poor reviews.

The feature film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which inaugurates Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was not really well received by critics. A lukewarm reception that does not move actor Jonathan Majors, the big screen incarnation of the formidable Kang, more than that.

“All of this doesn’t change the way I see myself, period. It’s just data”says the actor on the mic of the Screen Talk podcast organized by IndieWire when asked about the poor reviews received by Ant-Man 3. “I see myself as a performance as part of a story.”

When asked what he thinks of the journalists who scratch the Marvel film of which he is the big bad, Jonathan Majors shows great detachment. “They’re just people. They have an opinion. Everyone has an opinion,” soberly declares the 33-year-old comedian.

“I’m not fooled. I know who are the ones who write this”he continues. “These are not my teachers at Yale or my drama teachers. These are people who have children and who have a perspective, who have a religious upbringing or not. They live here or there, want to be seen in such a way. or such a way.”

For Jonathan Majors, the most important thing is therefore not to focus on the critical reception given by individuals, but rather to let the film live and let everyone have their own feelings. “I see that the average (on the American site Rotten Tomatoes, editor’s note) is 47 out of 100, okay. But what does this average of 47 mean when you have all these box office entries in parallel?he asks himself. “What does all this mean? It’s just information. I’m aware of all this, I don’t want to get into this game. I know how it works.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has grossed over $420 million worldwide since its release on February 15. In France, the feature film led by Paul Rudd attracted nearly 1.2 million spectators.
