Ant-Man and the Wasp – Quantumania: Why is villain Kang hiding in the quantum realm?

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” will be released in German cinemas on February 15, 2023. In the film, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) heads to the quantum realm with his family, including daughter Cassy (Kathryn Newton). There he meets the scoundrel Kan the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

A variant of Kang was previously introduced in the Disney+ series “Loki” called The One Who Stays (also Jonathan Majors). Kang becomes the main villain for the entire Multiverse saga, battling not only Ant-Man in Quantumania, but also the entire Avengers squad in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

But why is Kang even in the quantum realm during “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania”? The answer is likely to be found in “Loki”. There, The One Who Remains reveals that different variants of him fought against each other for dominance of the multiverse.

To stop the Multiversal War, He Who Remains merged all timelines into one, so there were no more variants. After his death, numerous parallel universes branch off from the main timeline. Now there are all sorts of Kang variants on the loose again.

One fan theory, however, is that the Kang we meet in “Ant-Man 3” is a variant that never went away. The quantum realm is a vast mystery and is even used for time travel in “Avengers: Endgame”. What if Kang the Conqueror has been hiding in the Quantum Realm for centuries?

So that those who stay don’t “clip” him, Kang may have descended into the Quantum Realm and planned his conquest of Earth and other planets there. The only question here would be: Does he now know that the one who stays no longer exists? Once he has this knowledge, there will be no stopping Kang the Conqueror!
