That’s not all, sincea dermatologist nicknamed Dermguru on Tik Tok revealed some interesting information on social networks: a very specific type of pillow would help prevent the appearance of sleep wrinkles.

Sleep wrinkles: what are they?

Because the dermatologist affirms it: certain positions can aggravate the appearance of wrinkles, particularly when you sleep on your stomach or side because all or part of the face is against the pillow. “You need to rethink the position you sleep in because you can develop wrinkles, these are sleep wrinkles” says the doctor, and this “because of continuous pressure and gravity because the face is pressed against the pillow all night”, she explains. This particularly increases the appearance of vertical wrinkles on the forehead and corners of the lips. They are also called compression wrinkles.

How to avoid sleep lines according to a dermatologist

As with age these wrinkles “are increasingly visible as our skin loses collagen and elasticity“, to protect against this phenomenon, Dermguru recommends using a so-called “anti-aging” pillow. This is a cushion padded on the upper and lower part: when the head is placed on it, the face touches the barely the pillow, reducing the risk of compression of the skin against the fabric. The specialist also advises changing its position and to sleep on your back instead of sleeping on your stomach. Finally, there are pillowcases made of silk or satin, materials that are soft on the skin and limit the “crumpled” effect of the skin when you wake up.
