Anti-overheating update causes Wi-Fi issues

The latest iOS 17 update for the iPhone 15 fixes the heating problem of the new smartphone, but adds another problem. Several Internet users are now reporting Wi-Fi problems.

Overheating problems, and an update to correct the problem, an NFC problem with BMW cars and a speaker problem, the iPhone 15 definitely seems to cause a lot of inconvenience for the first owners of the smartphone.

Now it is the quality of Wi-Fi that is being singled out. As reported 9TB5Macseveral iPhone 15 users running iOS 17 have reported problems accessing the Internet with Wi-Fi.

A software problem?

The problem was noticed on different products: iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max, but also iPhones updated to iOS 17. This suggests that the source of the bug would be software. This results in apps unable to download content from the internet, or a connection that seems particularly slow.

The site 9TB5Mac was able to confirm the problem on one of its copies. Apps like TikTok, Safari or Threads were too slow and sometimes even required disconnecting and reconnecting to Wi-Fi to work.

Messages on Apple’s forums also confirm that the problem is rather widespread.

We can wonder if the latest update proposed by Apple, which reduced the impact of the iPhone 12 to bring it into compliance with the French market, is not responsible for these Wi-Fi problems. Apple has not communicated about this new bug. Hopefully a new patch for iOS 17 will be rolled out quickly.
