On this Christmas Eve, we invite you to do something useful rather than playful … Antidote 11, by the Canadian Druid, is not a simple spelling correction software: it is a set of essential tools for better to write.

Until December 24, Clubic opens a box of his sound every day Advent calendar 2021
: the opportunity to discover unusual or practical gadgets, gift ideas, for oneself or for loved ones.

Antidote 11 consists of an intelligent corrector that integrates with your favorite software, dictionaries and guides covering all aspects of writing. The set is available in French, English or bilingual, under macOS and Windows.

Deep learning

Based on the deep learning and artificial intelligence for a few generations, the Antidote 11 proofreader does not just correct grammar and spelling mistakes.

From the installation, the tone is set: the software adapts to your needs after asking a few questions about how you master the language and its preferred variant. You will therefore have to choose the type of French spoken (from France, Canada or Belgium) and whether you want to use traditional or corrected spelling.

In order to be easy to use, Antidote 11 can be integrated into almost all software that handles text, including Web applications (Gmail, Google Documents, Outlook.com, etc.). Those that are not natively supported are via the icon located in the system tray.

The corrector’s interface provides a wealth of information concerning the errors or inaccuracies detected. We can choose to accept the suggestions or reject them. The typography section is very useful, in particular by managing non-breaking spaces and other rules that must be observed if you are creating a document to be printed.

Style with style

The most educational is in our opinion the one devoted to style. In addition to calculating the readability index according to several standard methods, she mercilessly points out repetitions, overly long sentences, dull verbs and turns that weigh down the text.

We can also tackle non-inclusive phrases in order to create a double-gendered text by the joint use of the feminine and the masculine. It should be noted for all practical purposes that the midpoint is not yet recognized by Antidote 11.

The personalization of the corrector is one of the strong points of Antidote 11. It is in fact possible to integrate terms specific to a precise sector, often used abbreviations or even specific rules.

And since we do not express ourselves in the same way in an informal e-mail or in a thesis, the software also makes it possible to create rules and alerts that will apply according to the target readership or the publication medium, all of this. in addition to the user’s personal dictionary.

Perpetual license or subscription

Antidote 11 is available in two versions. The traditional perpetual license (119 €) allows you to benefit from intermediate updates, but not major changes (such as the switch to Antidote 12, for example).

If you are not allergic to the subscription, you can opt for Antidote + instead. The annual rate is then € 59 for one user or € 99 for five users. In addition to the software itself, it is possible to benefit from personal dictionary synchronization, audio pronunciation of terms and access to Antidote Web as well as Antidote Mobile for iOS devices.

The latter do not benefit from the corrector, Apple making it impossible to integrate it into iOS apps. Too bad: he would have had a lot of work in the SMS exchanges …

Or…

The venerable Le Robert dictionary also offers its corrector for Windows and macOS. Very efficient, it has six language guides, a dictionary of quotes and proverbs.
