Against the rise of the extreme right in Europe, against racism – according to police, around 4,500 people marched through the streets of the Belgian capital Brussels on Sunday.

The Antifascist Coordination of Belgium, an association of around 20 organizations, had called for the demonstration.

Right-wing parties in particular gained votes in the European elections a week ago. In Germany, for example, the AfD came in second place, while in France the far-right Rassemblement National party received more than twice as many votes as President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist coalition.
