Antoine Monot Jr. and Co .: Acting Association strongly condemns corona measures

The Federal Drama Association has positioned itself against the lockdown with clear words. The closure of the theaters is "nonsensical".

The renewed corona-related lockdown hits the ranks of artists hard. Now the Federal Drama Association (BFFS) responded with a letter of protest against the announced widespread closings of theaters. "The measures are nonsensical", so one of the central statements in it. The actors and actresses Leslie Malton (61), Hans-Werner Meyer (56), Simone Wagner (45), Heinrich Schafmeister (63), Klara Deutschmann (31), Antoine Monot, Jr. (45) are among the signatories of the declaration. as well as voice actor and lawyer Till Völger (33).

They protest "in the strongest possible way," it says. So far, all hygiene and protective measures have been supported: "They were painful and plunged many of us into existential crises, but we supported them because we recognized them as necessary to stop the exponential spread of the Covid 19 virus . " It was believed "that this joint effort would mean that we would be able to practice our profession again as quickly as possible, albeit under difficult conditions."

That was done in an exemplary manner. In the meantime, theaters are one of the few places where there is no proven infection: "Closing theaters even though they currently pose no risk is neither sensible nor reasonable." Smaller and not publicly funded houses in particular would not survive "this new and completely unnecessary blow to the bow". Many actors would also have to give up their profession because of this. "An unprecedented cultural cutback will be the result," it continues.
