Anyone can drive – Land Rover Defender starts rallying

The Land Rover Defender starts rallying. Jaguar Land Rovers’ Special Vehicle Operations division and off-road performance specialist Bowler Motors have now presented a rally version of the new four-wheel drive legend that will contest its own racing series in Great Britain in 2022.

The bolide with the name Bowler Defender Challenge is based on the Land Rover Defender 90 and has a two-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 300 hp as the drive source. A vehicle will celebrate its public premiere as part of the Iceland Hill Rally, which will take place from August 6th to 8th over several stages totaling around 400 kilometers.

As part of the new Bowler Defender Challenge racing series, seven rallies will be held in Great Britain from March 2022 – Bowler will announce the dates and locations during the course of the year. A total of twelve vehicles form the starting field for the one-make cup. Each team starts with a Defender that has been prepared identically by Bowler. The rally series sees itself as an open racing platform: Both experienced rally drivers and newcomers with no competition experience are addressed. For the latter, Bowler offers appropriate training and a wide range of support in order to acquire the necessary racing license before entering the series.

Bowler offers various package solutions for participation in the Bowler Defender Challenge – starting with a package for 99,500 pounds sterling (116,600 euros), which includes a Defender Challenge model prepared by Bowler, entry into the racing series starting in March 2022 and support for the competitions. Bowler’s other offers include training, racing logistics and vehicle support. (aum)
