Aperitif visio: when confinement trends become habits: Current Woman Le MAG

If there is one thing for which the French are champions, it is to organize aperitifs! Cheese platters, spreads, cocktails with or without alcohol, crackers … the study carried out by Belin and Ifop, the aperitif would even come second in the ranking of food excluding meals in France. Difficult then, during confinement, to imagine saying goodbye to this ritual. Fortunately, "impossible is not French"! During these two months, a real trend was born: the aperitif in videoconference.

Women who love video aperitifs

The principle is simple, take an aperitif while meeting by interposed screens. A way to maintain social ties, even from a distance. The method, adopted by 71% of French people during confinement, has become the highlight of weekly routines, especially among women. "75% of them considered that aperitif-visio was the first moment creating social ties (compared to 67% for men)". An appointment which, despite the return to normal, intends to become a habit. If the study finds thatone in five French people still prefer video aperitifs, in women, they are "23% plan to continue video on a regular basis". Or a little more than the national average of 22%.

How to organize a video aperitif?

  • Skype, Facetime, Messenger, Google Meet, Zoom … Each group of friends has their favorite tool! The key to a successful aperitif is of course organization. To make sure that everyone answers the call, consider sending an invitation using the videoconference link or blocking a date on the calendars of each participant.
  • Prepare an aperitif to have everything at hand. Lovers of cocktails and homemade spreads, be ready! As with a picnic, it is essential to think of everything before logging onto the conversation. This means that we go to the stove or behind the bar, before sitting down in front of our screen. This way, you can fully enjoy your loved ones, without having to go back and forth in the kitchen.
  • Plan your recipes in advance with friends: puff pastries, hummus, verrines … To add some animation to your conversation, you can very well have fun replaying the Top Chef program. To do this, send the day before, two or three recipes to your group. Make the small dishes before connecting, then compare each of the creations. Each will be both judge and participant. The loser pays the next round at the time of the reunion?
