Apex Legends: A solo game in the pipes of Respawn?

Almost six years after its last solo title and while Apex Legends is doing very well after three years of existence, the Respawn Entertainment studio (Electronic Arts) could finally consider a new game in the universe of one of the The most famous Battle Royales nowadays. Interesting news that should delight more than one, but also disappoint others even though we know almost nothing about it…

A history of job offers

If it is common for new or future video games planned by a given company to leak even before their official announcement, this is currently not the case with this supposed game from Respawn. It’s actually in list of vacancies within this development studio that our English-speaking colleagues from Dexerto have spotted some interesting elements.

One of them is in particular the mention of a “FPS project in the Apex universe being incubated“, and while this mention is surprising the sequel is just as surprising since it is the future game that is described there as “an all-new single-player adventure game from Respawn“. Also in the list of vacancies, one of them describes the game this way: “This new single player title is the dream playground of any developer since it offers the freedom to innovate, a choice made possible thanks to the universe in which it is supposed to evolve.“.

Very interesting clues that will be very reminiscent of those at the origin of Apex Legends… The famous Titanfall and Titanfall 2 of course!

The big disappointment for Titanfall fans

If these mysterious clues suggest that a Titanfall 3 could be in anticipation, it was without counting on material collected by GamesBeat with Respawn Entertainment last January.

Although this title is actually intended as a solo FPS combining “mobility” and “style“, it wouldn’t actually be a sequel to one of the studio’s most acclaimed (and yet least popular) titles. And that’s easily understandable: although, as mentioned earlier, widely acclaimed for its gameplay, its campaign and its multiplayer judged as “exceptional” by fans, Titanfall struggled to convince in the long term to finally fall into the maze of almost extinct games.
So much so that the first opus has not been available for sale since March 1, while the second is struggling to attract crowds even today. Terrible, and that could explain the reluctance to try the experience a third time!

Apex Legends

But if we already know that the studio is still actively working on keeping Apex Legends up to date but also on creating a sequel to the famous Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019), this third mysterious project is not without raising many questions. While Electronic Arts already estimates the publication of this title around 2024 or 2025, we recently learned of the departure of its Creative Director, Mohammed Alavi, notably known for his great influence in the creation of the “No Russian” mission of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 but also his passion for Titanfall and Apex Legends.

Apex Legends

Mohammed Alavi was already working on this mysterious project before his departure, and the parent company has already revealed that all the work done by the former Creative Director and his teams will be kept for the further development of the project. But then what could he have been working on that is neither Star Wars nor Titanfall and yet in the universe of Titanfall (and Apex Legends)?

The mystery remains, but one thing seems certain: this “triple A single-player FPS in the Titanfall universe” is well under development at Respawn Entertainment!

Apex Legends: Mohammad Alavi leaves Respawn after 11 years of service

It is after 11 years of good and loyal service that Mohammad Alavi, Narrative Design Director of Titanfall and Apex Legends, has chosen to leave his position at Respawn Entertainment. Back to a developer, let’s say it, legend!
