Apex Legends and Battlefield Mobile, it’s over

The bad news is linked on the side of Electronic Arts. After the postponement of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, two games are canceled and a studio closes. Arrived during the year 2022, Apex Legends Mobile will finally turn off the servers on May 2, while Battlefield Mobile will never see the light of day. In addition, Industrial Toys, the studio in charge of the development of the latter, is closing its doors.

After a Battlefield 2042 more than disappointing at all levels, EA’s strategy has evolved regarding the franchise. In a dedicated post, the studio explains that it wants to meet the expectations of players by exploiting the full potential of the FPS. For this, efforts are put on the evolution of the latest title and the creation of the next installments of the saga. Their studios around the world are dedicated to it, a strategy already adopted by Activision to develop the license call of duty. It’s a safe bet that this direct competitor is the new source of inspiration for the publisher.

Re Apex Legends Mobile, the situation is a bit trickier. Despite a more than honest start, Respawn Entertainment would not be happy with the state of the game. Thus, in order to stay true to themselves, it is better for them to stop its development. From May 2, 2023 at 1:00 a.m. (French time), the servers will shut down. This does not impact the PC and console version which continues to receive regular updates. However, purchases made in the mobile version will not be refunded, even if it has not blown out its first candle.
