Apex Legends will launch its season 5 very soon and Respawn Entertainment is already giving us all the details on this future big update. New map, new legend and new featureswe take stock of the upcoming new features of the FPS / Battle Royale.
New Map: Broken Moon
In terms of lore, you should know that this Shattered Moon was created thirty years ago from Cleo, the moon of Borea, which was hit by a comet. This gave humanity a unique opportunity to experiment with terraforming and implanting an atmosphere. As the public lost interest in the project over time, it was picked up by Apex games.
In terms of map layout, we have a colony still under construction and a lot of fairly detailed interiors. The map also introduces two new ways to get around : the Zip Rails (kinds of trains that you can take in the manner of a zip line and which allow you to travel quickly on the map according to defined routes) and the Giant POIs (drop points where you can collect loot quietly).
The New Legend: Catalyst
What players expect the most is of course to know the abilities of this legend named Catalyst. A little history all the same before that. As a teenager, Tressa Crystal Smith was a resident of Boreas. With her group of friends, she directed her prayers towards a mysterious light coming from the shattered moon. At the age of fifteen, she joined a team in charge of terraforming to rebuild the moon. She felt a connection between her work with ferrofluid and the rituals of her past. Unfortunately, the arrival of the Apex games has upset her peaceful daily life and she now participates in the competition as a Catalyst to defend her native land.
Here is Catalyst abilities :
● Passive – Barricade : With its ability to manipulate ferrofluid, Catalyst reinforces gates to solidify them and lock them to enemies while allowing teammates to pass freely.
● Tactical – Piercing Spikes : Catalyst can project a ferrofluid stain that turns into deadly spikes when enemies are close, while Catalyst is immune to enemy spikes.
● Ultimate – Dark Veil : Catalyst spawns a permeable wall of Ferrofluid that will slow and partially blind enemies who attempt to fight their way through it. Players can use these barriers to divide the battlefield or resurrect their team in a safe place.
Time for gifts and stickers
Among the little novelties of this season 15, we have gifts. You’ll be able to buy gifts with Apex Coins in the store, both unique items and packs that you can then send to friends. However, you have a limit of 5 gifts every 24 hours.
Here are the requirements for sending gifts to your friends or relatives:
- You must have login verification enabled
- You must be at least level 10
- You must be friends with the gift recipients for at least 2 weeks
- Both donor and recipient must have accounts “in good standing”
- Gifts in Apex Legends aren’t region-locked, so you’ll be able to send them to friends around the world
Finally, we are entitled to a new form of cosmetics with stickers (or stickers) that you can stick on objects like shield cells or a health kit. However, we do not yet know how to obtain them precisely.
Apex Legends: Eclipse will be available on November 1 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Switch.
