The Rescue Season (13) ofApex Legends will be launched in a week, so Respawn Entertainments and Electronic Arts continue the presentations of the novelties that the players will be able to discover. The most highlighted so far was of course the news Legend Newcastlewhose identity is none other than Jackson Williamswho resolved to participate in the Apex Games. As we saw in the launch trailer, the map Storm area will evolve following the attack of a terrible creature, notably revealing armories of theBMI. The trailer of the day therefore takes stock of the gameplaywith a first glimpse of the skills of Newcastlewhich will undoubtedly be entitled to a dedicated video in the coming days as is customary.

Hi ! I’m Keith Jensen, Senior Level Designer on Apex Legends, and I’m thrilled to bring you the first Storm Zone map update for Apex Legends – Rescue.
The Storm Zone is a totally isolated tropical island paradise in the middle of the ocean. The depths of the sea hold many secrets, some more hidden than others. One of these mysteries takes the form of a prehistoric sea creature, which has risen from the depths to crawl to the northwest shore of the island. Two of the island’s favorite Leviathans have mysteriously disappeared during the migration period. The Legends deeming the situation potentially perilous, they decided to put their differences aside and work together to triumph over this rabid beast.
As this was the first Storm Zone map update, our goal was to add new content and improve the functionality of the map, without taking anything away from it. We’ve added a brand new point of interest: a giant carcass called The Slain Creature – which is a unique combat experience in Apex Legends -, an organic combat area, as well as an interesting architectural change. We’ve also introduced a brand new PvE feature with the IMC Armories, which are scattered in four strategic locations around the map and can have a significant impact on the outcome of battles.
NEW POINT OF INTEREST – THE STRUCKED CREATURE
Already crossed in the Canyon des Rois, the ECHO environmental cleaning and risk treatment unit arrives to clean up the Storm Zone so that the Games can be held there. Clearing up the huge stranded sea creature carcass, which has transformed the landscape of the once pristine coastline, will take some time, however. This point of interest is a valuable looting ground at the crossroads of three crucial places: the North Springboard, the Control Point and the Mill. You will immediately see a huge crane on a floating base that is part of the infrastructure deployed by the ECHO unit around the slain creature. The carcass of the latter can act as a protective cover in the event of an air attack. The gravity cannon allows you to pull yourself up to the top of the carcass or quickly flee when the ring approaches. We encourage teams to land on one of the platforms and collect loot from one of the many ECHO tents, before fighting their way inside the beast…but that’s not risk free! The Large Carcass may look intimidating at first, but it has a high-level loot area inside.
The jaws wide open and the four gaping wounds that punctuate the body of the beast are as many opportunities to attack the enemy by taking him from behind. Riding the beast also gives you a preferential position, which gives you a global view of the surrounding activity. Ziplines allow you to quickly gain height to better attack and eliminate enemies from elevated positions. You can also keep an eye out for enemies coming from nearby points of interest. The possibilities are endless for Legends with standard abilities, and this point of interest provides combat possibilities that are bound to match your combat style: close combat in tents, medium range indoors and long range outdoors. . Because of the stranded creature, many flyers have reappeared and are flying over the scene, attracted by the prospect of being able to enjoy its carcass.
NEW MAP EXPANSION – IMC ARMORY
The IMC armories had been buried in the Storm Zone for decades. Before the end of the war, the IMC created these automated combat support structures and kept them underground. Originally intended to support IMC pilots in combat, they were never activated…until now. When the creature emerged, an earthquake threat was detected. In response, the armories were activated and brought to the surface.
When you approach an Armory, the ramp will automatically open to allow you to enter. Once inside, you will find a whole arsenal of weapons as well as a button allowing you to access the precious loot contained in the armory and jealously guarded by Specters. Activating an Armory locks the ramp shut, effectively triggering an inevitable confrontation with multiple waves of Specters. Survive for 60 seconds to receive smart loot that can be used to upgrade your gear. The more Ghosts your squad kills, the more loot it gets! Head to the Armories as soon as possible to quickly equip yourself with gear that you can enjoy throughout the game. After completing the challenge, you have the option of ejecting into the skies or simply leaving via your end point. Your squad will also be able to take advantage of the elevated position of the roof.
QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES
Since the launch of Storm Zone, we’ve received a lot of feedback, information, and telemetry data that prompted us to make many small tweaks to improve the overall gameplay experience, minute by minute. We’ve also made some major wildlife changes: a new ranger camp has been added near the Cenote. If you pass by, you will discover an unprecedented combat experience against prowlers, whether in a cave or in the coral massif. Another ranger camp, southwest of the Windmill, has been revitalized, including the addition of flat rocks and a terrace system that both players and AI can walk through. To the north of the command center, a spider nest has also been reinforced by the appearance of a stone archway, which allows the nests to be closer. Hundreds of other minor quality-of-life updates have been made in an effort to smooth out the gameplay experience across the entire map.
