Apex Legends: The Global Series on hiatus until further notice!

The Global Series of Apex Legends started on January 15 with the Division 1 playoffs. The competition, which brings together a total of 100 teams from the 5 regions represented, pits Apex Legends pro players against each other to an overall endowment of 5 million dollars.

But while the competition was in full swing and Division 2 events were fast approaching, the official Apex Legends esports twitter account announced the suspension of the tournament : “In light of the events unfolding in Ukraine, we are suspending all ALGS competitions. We will provide an update on when tournaments will resume as soon as possible”.

A request from pro players

It is true that the pressure from some pro players was growing. Many of them have asked the Apex Legends Esports teams to suspend the tournament, given the situation in Ukraine and the the presence of Ukrainian pro players among the teams participating in the ALGS. Some of them are in towns where the situation remains critical, such as Kyiv Where Kharkov.

Created on Twitter a great mobilization on the part of pro Apex players Legends around the world like Dan”rpr” Ušić, a Croatian pro player who said: “Postpone the pro league out of respect and support for our CIS (Commonwealth Independent States) counterparts…we shouldn’t be playing while our peers are suffering.”

Several dozen pro players have invested in this way to encourage Apex Legends to put the tournament on hold, which obviously worked. As the Norwegian pro player said “Pjeh“, from RebelGG, “it is impossible to continue to play with what is happening in Ukraine”.

League 2 postponed?

While the Division 1 events were able to take place without too many problems, Division 2 events will be postponed. The first two clashes should indeed have started this month and ended in March. These will take place in linewhen the tournament resumes.
