Apple has been easing App Store restrictions for some time, particularly due to the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). In an update dated April 5, 2024, the Cupertino company finally authorizes the publication of emulators in its online store, with the possibility of downloading games from these applications.

As explained The Verge, this change could be linked to an antitrust complaint filed in the United States. Apple is accused of preventing its users from taking advantage of certain applications, particularly cloud gaming (Xbox Game Pass, Nvidia GeForce Now, etc.). These services are gradually starting to be authorized.
