Loan apps in India have not only defrauded their customers, but also sent very specific threats!
Apple prides itself on offering a particularly safe application store with the App Store, a store on which the Cupertino company says it is constantly cleaning up. However, it has recently passed a number of rather virulent fraudsters in India!
Unscrupulous lenders
The fraud was as follows: offering apps for download that claim to be backed by well-established financial institutions and that allow you to obtain loans extremely quickly. Of course, it was just a bunch of crooks. In a space as regulated as that of the Old Continent, this would be difficult to accept. But not in other territories of the planet, like India for example.
Six scam applications have recently created a scandal in one of the most populous countries in the world for having offered particularly usurious loans. Indeed, these were accompanied by “processing fees” ranging sometimes up to half the amount of the sum lent, with also gigantic interest rates. And beware of the customer who finally decided that the operation was too disadvantageous to pay!
Nudes, but not really
Because the bandits had made the victim accept, at the time of the signing of the loan, the transfer of his contacts. If she no longer wanted to pay, the scammers then threatened to send messages to all of her repertoire, now in their hands. Much worse, they even went so far as to threaten to use personal photos to create fake nudes and then send them to relatives!
Suffice to say that the image of the App Store does not come out strengthened by this misadventure, especially since four of the incriminated applications were, before their removal, present in the top 20 financial applications in India. Will Apple provide compensation or compensation for the victims of these scammers? We strongly doubt it.
