Apparently 200 officers – Vienna police clear the pro-Palestine camp!

The police have started clearing the pro-Palestine protest camp on the campus of the University of Vienna on the grounds of the Old General Hospital in the Alsergrund district. This was confirmed by a police spokesman.

Activists had previously announced by email that around 200 police officers had surrounded the students’ camp and given the protesters 15 minutes to leave the area. According to an APA cameraman, at least 100 people gathered in front of the campus to meet with the protesters showed solidarity. They chanted slogans and blocked traffic on Alser Strasse. On Monday, according to police reports, 100 people pitched their tents on the University of Vienna campus at the Old AKH following a “pro-Palestine” demonstration. The University of Vienna “decisively” distanced itself from the concerns of the protesters. Camps were also set up and buildings were occupied at universities in the USA and Europe. There was sometimes violence during their evacuation.
