Steinmeier: “Unvaccinated people endanger us all”
The fact that people still do not want to be vaccinated in view of the dramatic corona situation causes incomprehension among the Federal President. “What still has to happen?” Asks Steinmeier. He calls for the vaccination again – and has himself given the third injection.
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has linked his third corona vaccination with a renewed urgent appeal to people in Germany to be vaccinated – if they have not already done so. He showed a certain impatience: “I ask myself: What still has to happen to convince those who hesitate?” The pandemic is not over yet, warned Steinmeier.
The fourth wave hits our country hard. “And it hits us harder than it should hit us. Because we know what to do to finally get this pandemic over with.” The majority of people get vaccinated to protect themselves and others. “Those who don’t get vaccinated are putting their own health at risk and they are putting us all at risk.”
How great the suffering is can be seen in many intensive care units. “Above all, it is the unvaccinated people who are fighting for their lives there.” Steinmeier said further: “I ask you again, in your interest and in the interest of our country: Get vaccinated! And renew your vaccination protection in good time.”
Steinmeier received the active ingredient from Biontech in the Bundeswehr hospital in Berlin, as announced by the Federal President’s Office. With the third syringe he had his vaccination protection refreshed.
