If your Apple AirPods are loud at different levels, there are several reasons for this. We’ll show you how to find the cause, fix the problem and enjoy perfect sound.
One of the most common problems with AirPods is that the headphones have different volumes of sound. This is not only unpleasant in the ear, but also disrupts when you’re relaxing while listening to music on the train, in a café or at home on the couch. The causes of this problem can be varied:
- contamination
- Error in settings
- Software problems
- Hardware error
First try to remove any dirt from the headphones. If the volume is still different after cleaning the headphones, you may be able to resolve the issue by unpairing and resetting the AirPods.
If this doesn’t help, take a look at the settings. Here you will find the option to adjust the balance for headphones and can sometimes compensate for differences manually. To do this, if you haven’t already done so, connect your AirPods to your iPhone and put the plugs in your ears.
Update AirPods

Reset AirPods to factory settings
If the error still persists after updating, reset the AirPods to factory settings. If that doesn’t help either, there is most likely a hardware problem.
Make use of the manufacturer’s warranty
In this case, if your headphones are still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, you can have the AirPods repaired or replaced free of charge by Apple. Consider repair
If the warranty for your headphones has already expired, you can of course still take the earbuds to an external service provider for repairs. Since Apple headphones are relatively expensive, repairing them is often more worthwhile than buying new ones. At least if your AirPods haven’t been around for too many years or you’ve often had to deal with hardware problems.
