Apple has announced the Studio Display, a very impressive 5K display with a nice spec sheet. If you choose the version with the nano textured glass, you will even have an essential accessory with it.
Apple ended its March 2022 keynote by unveiling… a 2022 iPhone SE, a 2022 iPad Air, an Apple M1 Ultra chip, a Mac Studio and… a Studio Display. As you’d expect from Apple, the Studio Display offers an impressive spec sheet.
It is a PC screen in Retina 5K definition which is 27 inches diagonally, it also has a camera (12 megapixel ultra wide-angle) and an integrated audio system (with three microphones). To turn it all around, the screen also incorporates an Apple A13 Bionic chip. The set plugs in via three USB-C ports, which offer transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s. These USB-C ports deliver 96W of power to a Mac laptop, and even fast-charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro.
Nano-textured glass to protect
On one of the two versions, Apple used a nano-textured glass, as on the Pro Display XDR, whose objective is to disperse the light in order to minimize reflections while providing excellent image quality. Well to protect it… Apple offers a cloth with the screen (25 euros). This rag was already known, it had been unveiled with the two MacBook Pros, the 14 inch and the 16 inch.
It will cost at least 1999 euros, to which a support must also be added if necessary. Indeed, the base support only allows tilting. Note that a Thunderbolt cable is also included.
